Italians in couture clash with Chinese

Italians in couture clash with Chinese: The same month of the trade agreement Zegna engineered the merger of two major Italian fashion unions to form a united front against growing competition in China. Combined, the Italian Fashion System and the Textile Association of Italy represent about 2,000 manufacturers.

One of Zegna's main goals is to get Chinese manufacturers to curb the production of counterfeit goods such as Gucci handbags and Valentino sunglasses. Counterfeits are shipped to Italy where they are sold on the black market for a fraction of the price of an authentic product.
