The American star's Ferre ads are for the Spring-Summer 2006 season and will roll out in magazines internationally starting February.

Fendi to open flagship store

Fendi to open flagship store: The bags might have funny names: Hobo, bucket or spy, but it was the Fendi baguette that became the iconic must-have bag.

Says Mr. Burke, “When Silvia (Fendi’s granddaughter) turned an evening bag into a day bag, holding it tight under the arm like a French baguette, it gave a completely different attitude to the person carrying it! It’s what differentiates you more. Regardless of what type of body you have, you can carry a Fendi handbag.”

Not surprising that someone quipped wittily that this bag not only carries your lipstick and wallet but your emotional baggage too!

Armani has date with Essex girls

Armani has date with Essex girls: This morning Giorgio Armani will do what he does most Saturday mornings. He will leave his home in Milan's Via Borgonuovo and stroll past the clang-clattering orange trams to his Armani Caffe in Via Manzoni.

Most days he sips his espresso and watches the "bella signoras" as they waft from designer store to designer store but today he will be dreaming of Essex girls. At 10 o'clock this morning Armani opens his first shop in Bluewater shopping mall, spiritual home of Burberry-wearing Sharons and Traceys.

The opening of the cheap 'n' chic A/X Armani Exchange store, the first A/X shop in Europe, marks a dramatic shift in the career of the world's most successful fashion retailer. Armani has built a £2billion, 300-shop, 5,000-employee global empire by constantly diversifying. His label encompasses almost a dozen mini-brands - from the cheap(ish) Armani Jeans, through the mid-range Emporio Armani, up to the wildly expensive Prive haute couture line.

Viewers Are Scanty for 'Victoria's Secret Fashion Show'

Viewers Are Scanty for 'Victoria's Secret Fashion Show': All but about 8.9 million Americans found themselves able to resist the lure of pouty girls in candy-coated and crystal-caked undies, prancing between two of Paul Bunyan's albino teddy bears to strains of "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and possibly "Song of the Volga Boatmen," though it's been years since we took that Music Appreciation class so don't hold us to that.

And, although CBS ran a parental warning in large letters across the screen no fewer than four times at the start of the skivvies show, a mere half-million teenagers and only about 350,000 children watched the one-hour holiday special, which was taped last month at the Lexington Armory in Manhattan.

That's about the same number of kids 2 to 11 who were over at NBC enjoying Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni as they investigated the case of the bruised, bloodied and severely injured 12-year-old boy who'd been dumped outside a hospital -- but that's another story.

It was the first "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" broadcast in two years. CBS suits took a breather last year, rightly figuring it would be hard to top the national TV debut of Janet Jackson's right breast on their own air in February '04.
